BarAmigo’s two pesos – Exactly what the name suggests… have a beer in a cafe atmosphere

When visited – Fri 1 Apr 2011 8.15pm to 10.45pm

You know what you get when you head to either the St. Kilda rd or Eureka versions of Belgian Beer Cafe. Laid back, casual, easy going surroundings which are comfortable to grab a seat and enjoy a beer. Wear whatever you feel relaxed in and enjoy chatting to your friends. Everyone is here for the same purpose.

The bar at Belgian Beer Cafe Eureka

Stellas (my choice) and Hoegaardens go down very easily. Ever wondered what Belle-Vue Kriek is? Well just ask the bar staff and they’ll give you a small taste. This typifies the casual open feeling you get at Belgian Beer Cafe. Belle-Vue Kriek isn’t my cup of tea (shouldn’t I write glass of beer?) but it indicates the Belgian Beer Cafe sticking to its guns.

The weather starts to turn colder and windier when we’re at Belgian Beer Cafe Eureka but it’s still pleasant to sit outside. Its probably because of the weather that it’s no issue getting a seat. If it were a warm summer day, I’d have no doubt it would be packed outside. Thankfully at about 9 the heaters are turned on so we aren’t freezing.

At 8.15, there are still some suits and work groups around but mostly the crowd changeover has happened and its groups of friends having a casual drink on a Friday evening rather than the after work crowd. Its a cafe so wear what you feel like. Hoodies are rather common. No need to dress up here.

Just remember that when a group starts to sing happy birthday, join in and embarrass them further.

Belgian Beer Cafe is great for a casual relaxed drink and to catch up with good friends over a beer.

Salud
