Bag a table and enjoy a cocktail at Kitten Club.

Find a table or sit at the bar, order a cocktail and enjoy the company of your friends. Order some tapas as well whilst you’re at it. Kitten Club is a great place to enjoy the company of your friends. Perfect on a cold winter’s night. Plus you can head upstairs ($5 cover) and check out the live music which usually gets pumping around midnight or 1am.

After the debacle of Spice Market (well you gotta drop by a friend’s b’day drinks for a bit don’t you…) we were after somewhere which we could enjoy a drink and be able to chat. Kitten Club fit the bill perfectly as it still has that lively atmosphere of many people having a drink or finishing dinner and music which is at that level where it is still comfortable to have a conversation.

The two of us are able to easily get a table walking in at around 10.45pm. It’s not bad at all as later on we can pull up an additional stool or two when some other friends join us. I would have expected a few more people around… especially at the bar. But despite this, the larger tables are full with late 20s through mid 30s groups of friends. There isn’t really anyone at the bar so you could easily get a seat at the bar if you wanted. The crowd is generally well dressed as you’d expect for a night out. It’s the type of crowd who’d get their dancing shoes on upstairs later on. No hoodies around here.

The hardest decision you need to make is what cocktail to have. I hate making decisions like this so I delegate it out to the waitress. The staff are wonderful and full of personality and happy to have that chat with you. Our waitress spent 2 years at 1806 so she certainly knew her cocktails. The only criteria I set was I like whisky… I’m asked what flavours I like… sweet, sour, bitter? In the end, after saying I don’t want a sweet tinge and I prefer sour with a tinge of bitterness, the waitress ends up choosing a smoky whisky sour cocktail with some bitters and egg white. It’s divine and exactly my taste. Great choice from the waitress. My friend ends up choosing a fruity berry type cocktail which also tastes terrific.

My cocktail ends up costing $20… My friend’s is $17. I can’t find my cocktail on the menu so it might have been something made up. This shows the level of service and care you get here at Kitten Club.

Tonight it’s really really quiet upstairs. It’s so quiet that my friends don’t have to pay the $5 cover charge to head upstairs and check out the live act. It’s probably only towards midnight where it will get packed upstairs. And it will depend upon the particular act on the night.

Hit up Kitten Club for wonderfully crafted cocktails in a relaxing but lively and vibrant atmosphere. Great for a date or to catch up with some good friends.
