BarAmigo’s two pesos – All for the dancefloor after a few drinks

Hit up Bimbo Deluxe for a great value pizza, have a few drinks then dance the night away. It’s one of those venues that could have a line out the front but if you look past that, it’s an unpretentious and laid back vibe.

Afternoon lawn bowls, extended drinks at the lawn bowls club with drinks at 1950’s prices and dinner… now time for Bimbo Deluxe. We’re looking for some dancefloor action and Bimbo Deluxe is conveniently located for us.
At 11.30pm we’re made to wait 5 or so minutes in line. Little annoying given that there really isn’t that many people inside at all. I guess it’s a combination of needing to scan everyone’s ID and the fact that Bimbo’s may be one of those venues that likes to keep up appearances with a line out front. Anyway, it’s only a few minutes and we’re in.
Before hitting the dancefloor, I’m up for checking out the outdoor area for a quiet drink. Surprisingly the bar up on the rooftop/outdoor area is closed. I think it closes at 11? But don’t quote me on that.

Anyway, back downstairs and its a round of scotch & drys, vodka lime and sodas, bourbon and cokes and a pint. Just over $50 for 5 spirits and a pint. Decent prices. Speaking of decent prices, $4 pizzas early in the night. Absolutely bargain. Helps to draw the uni crowd. If you’re eating, the couches are good to crash. Also good to rest the legs after hitting the dancefloor.
The dancefloor isn’t the fullest but there’s enough people dancing to encourage other people to dance. Music is kinda funk but hey… I struggle classifying music genres. Anyway, its a busy vibe with people starting to get moving.
Crowd wise it tends to be early 20s through late 20s. More of a younger crowd than not. Dress wise it’s pretty casual to go with the unpretentious vibe at Bimbo Deluxe. I’m right to get in with shorts thongs and a shirt. Well it was 38 degrees during the day so it’d be pretty rough if they didn’t let me in. Most guys and chicks in jeans. T shirts the norm for guys. Some chicks in dresses and heels but jeans are pretty common for chicks.
Enjoy the cool, easy going, unpretentious atmosphere at Bimbo Deluxe. Could have been busier but still good to dance the night away.
