BarAmigo’s two pesos – Get your Latin American fix over here… And a great beer garden outside.

When visited – Sun 27 Jan 2013 10.45pm to 11.45pm

Hit up Corte for some Latin American food and drink. Get your meat fix, down an Argentinian/Latin American/Spanish beer and enjoy the outdoor beer garden.

We’ve been pub crawling for a good 4 hours now. Butterfly Club, Railway Hotel, Sloaney Pony, Rose Bar and Diner and now stumbled upon Corte. Yes literally stumbled upon Corte.

It only opened on Fri 25 Jan 2013 so Corte is definitely the new kid on the block. Even though it’s a cold night (for summer) we decide to sit outside. The gas heaters are actually on which is rather justified. Plenty of tables and space outside. The beer garden outside Corte would be perfect on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or if the weather was warmer. Expect it to get busy once the word is out.

A 1 litre bottle of Quilmes sets you back $20. Not bad. Something different. And takes me back to the my backpacking days around Argentina. If I weren’t on a pub crawl and were eating I’d be choosing a Malbec from Mendoza to go with the food. Can’t go wrong with that drop. Other beers available are typically Latin American/Spanish with Dos Equis, Estrella, Tecate and Moritz by the bottle.

Corte isn’t just about the beer garden. They do tapas/sharing style meals which have that Argentinian/Latin American flair to it. Ranger Valley Beef Skirt with Chimichurri ($23). Absolutely love chimichurri so will have to try it one day. Seems a bit of a small menu at the moment with only 4 tapas options ($5-$12) and 3 mains ($23 each) and 3 types of entrees available. I can only assume they are working on their menu. As its designed for sharing I’m expecting the menu to grow over time. But what do I know? I’m an uncultured bogan so disregard what I just said…

4 Whites available by the glass ($8-$12) and 5 reds available by the glass ($8-$11) at Corte. Sorry couldn’t provide further info. My photo of the drinks list was just too blurry to read… well we have been pub crawling for about 4-5 hours by now.

Can’t really comment about the crowd given not many people are around and Corte just opened up.

Time for us to move onto somewhere more happening. And back to drinking by the pint. Or maybe not… it’s been a long arvo/evening.

Looking forward to eating some of the tapas/grill food available at Corte. Will be good for a balmy summer’s evening sitting outside with the palm trees enjoying a Quilmes and some steak. And the other tapas options as well.

Salud
